Its in the public domain so feel free to copy and spread everywhere.<\/span><strong><span class=\"hps\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wpml_ico\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thewholestory.de\/wp-content\/plugins\/wp-monalisa\/icons\/wpml_yes.gif\" alt=\"\" \/><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<h1>2nd Kings 6<\/h1>\n<h3><b>Elisha in Samaria<\/b><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><sup>24 <\/sup>After this, Benhadad king of Syria gathered all his army, and went up and besieged Samaria. <sup>25<\/sup> There was a great famine in Samaria. Behold, they besieged it until a donkey\u2019s head was sold for eighty pieces of silver, and the fourth part of a <abbr title=\"A kab was about 2 liters, so a fourth of a kab would be about 500 milliliters or about a pint.\"> kab <\/abbr> of dove\u2019s dung for five pieces of silver. <sup>26<\/sup> As the king of Israel was passing by on the wall, a woman cried to him, saying, \u201cHelp, my lord, O king!\u201d <sup>27<\/sup> He said, \u201cIf Yahweh doesn\u2019t help you, where could I get help for you? From the threshing floor, or from the wine press?\u201d <sup>28<\/sup> Then the king asked her, \u201cWhat is your problem?\u201d<br \/>\nShe answered, \u201cThis woman said to me, \u2018Give your son, that we may eat him today, and we will eat my son tomorrow.\u2019 <sup>29<\/sup> So we boiled my son and ate him; and I said to her on the next day, \u2018Give up your son, that we may eat him;\u2019 and she has hidden her son.\u201d <span id=\"V3\" class=\"verse\"><sup>30<\/sup> <\/span>When the king heard the words of the woman, he tore his clothes. Now he was passing by on the wall, and the people looked, and behold, he had sackcloth underneath on his body. <span id=\"V3\" class=\"verse\"><sup>31<\/sup> <\/span>Then he said, \u201cGod do so to me, and more also, if the head of Elisha the son of Shaphat stays on him today.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span id=\"V3\" class=\"verse\"><sup>32<\/sup> <\/span>But Elisha was sitting in his house, and the elders were sitting with him. Then the king sent a man from before him; but before the messenger came to him, he said to the elders, \u201cDo you see how this son of a murderer has sent to take away my head? Behold, when the messenger comes, shut the door, and hold the door shut against him. Isn\u2019t the sound of his master\u2019s feet behind him?\u201d <span id=\"V3\" class=\"verse\"><sup>32<\/sup> <\/span>While he was still talking with them, behold, the messenger came down to him. Then he said, \u201cBehold, this evil is from Yahweh. Why should I wait for Yahweh any longer?<\/p>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: justify;\">2nd Kings 7<\/h1>\n<div class=\"p\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><sup>1<\/sup> Elisha said, \u201cHear Yahweh\u2019s word. Yahweh says, \u2018Tomorrow about this time a<abbr title=\"1 seah is about 7 liters or 1.9 gallons or 0.8 pecks\"> seah <\/abbr>of fine flour will be sold for a shekeland two seahs of barley for a <abbr title=\"A shekel is about 10 grams or about 0.35 ounces. In this context, it was probably a silver coin weighing that much.\">shekel <\/abbr>, in the gate of Samaria.\u2019 \u201d<\/div>\n<div class=\"p\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><sup>2<\/sup> Then the captain on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, \u201cBehold, if Yahweh made windows in heaven, could this thing be?\u201d He said, \u201cBehold, you will see it with your eyes, but will not eat of it.\u201d<\/div>\n<div class=\"p\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><sup>3<\/sup> Now there were four leprous men at the entrance of the gate. They said to one another, \u201cWhy do we sit here until we die?<sup>4<\/sup>\u00a0If we say, \u2018We will enter into the city,\u2019 then the famine is in the city, and we will die there. If we sit still here, we also die. Now therefore come, and let\u2019s surrender to the army of the Syrians. If they save us alive, we will live; and if they kill us, we will only die.\u201d <sup>5<\/sup>\u00a0They rose up in the twilight to go to the camp of the Syrians. When they had come to the outermost part of the camp of the Syrians, behold, no man was there. <sup>6<\/sup>For the <abbr title=\"The word translated \u201cLord\u201d is \u201cAdonai.\u201d\">Lord <\/abbr>had made the army of the Syrians to hear the sound of chariots and the sound of horses, even the noise of a great army; and they said to one another, \u201cBehold, the king of Israel has hired against us the kings of the Hittites and the kings of the Egyptians to attack us.\u201d <span id=\"V3\" class=\"verse\"><sup>7<\/sup>\u00a0<\/span>Therefore they arose and fled in the twilight, and left their tents, their horses, and their donkeys, even the camp as it was, and fled for their life. <span id=\"V3\" class=\"verse\"><sup>8<\/sup>\u00a0<\/span>When these lepers came to the outermost part of the camp, they went into one tent, and ate and drank, then carried away silver, gold, and clothing and went and hid it. Then they came back, and entered into another tent and carried things from there also, and went and hid them. <span id=\"V3\" class=\"verse\"><sup>9<\/sup>\u00a0<\/span>Then they said to one another, \u201cWe aren\u2019t doing right. Today is a day of good news, and we keep silent. If we wait until the morning light, punishment will overtake us. Now therefore come, let\u2019s go and tell the king\u2019s household.\u201d <span id=\"V10\" class=\"verse\"><sup>10<\/sup> <\/span> So they came and called to the city gatekeepers; and they told them, \u201cWe came to the camp of the Syrians, and, behold, there was no man there, not even a man\u2019s voice, but the horses tied, and the donkeys tied, and the tents as they were.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"p\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><sup>1<\/sup><sup>1<\/sup> Then the gatekeepers called out and told it to the king\u2019s household within. <sup>12 <\/sup>The king arose in the night, and said to his servants, \u201cI will now show you what the Syrians have done to us. They know that we are hungry. Therefore they have gone out of the camp to hide themselves in the field, saying, \u2018When they come out of the city, we shall take them alive, and get into the city.\u2019 \u201d <span id=\"V13\" class=\"verse\"><sup>13<\/sup> <\/span>One of his servants answered, \u201cPlease let some people take five of the horses that remain, which are left in the city. Behold, they are like all the multitude of Israel who are left in it. Behold, they are like all the multitude of Israel who are consumed. Let\u2019s send and see.\u201d <span id=\"V14\" class=\"verse\"><sup>14<\/sup> <\/span>Therefore they took two chariots with horses; and the king sent them out to the Syrian army, saying, \u201cGo and see.\u201d <span id=\"V15\" class=\"verse\"><sup>15<\/sup> <\/span>They went after them to the Jordan; and behold, all the path was full of garments and equipment which the Syrians had cast away in their haste. The messengers returned and told the king.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"p\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><sup>16 <\/sup>The people went out and plundered the camp of the Syrians. So a<abbr title=\"1 seah is about 7 liters or 1.9 gallons or 0.8 pecks\"> seah<\/abbr> of fine flour was sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a <abbr title=\"A shekel is about 10 grams or about 0.35 ounces. In this context, it was probably a silver coin weighing that much.\">shekel<\/abbr>, according to Yahweh\u2019s word. <sup>17<\/sup> The king had appointed the captain on whose hand he leaned to be in charge of the gate; and the people trampled over him in the gate, and he died as the man of God had said, who spoke when the king came down to him. <sup>18 <\/sup>It happened as the man of God had spoken to the king, saying, \u201cTwo <abbr title=\"1 seah is about 7 liters or 1.9 gallons or 0.8 pecks\"> seahs<\/abbr> of barley for a <abbr title=\"A shekel is about 10 grams or about 0.35 ounces.
